Well I'm thinking that your yelling at the TV did only slightly less for the cause than my canvassing - probably not less enough to be statistically significant. And I bet your back feels much better than mine. So I really think you ought not to feel guilty.

Thanks for the encouragement, kellybe. Missed you this weekend. btw.

So - are you saying that I should go ahead and do what feels right and ignore the heart rate monitor? I really feel like I could have been running (OK jogging?) 3/1, if I didn't stop every time the heart rate monitor told me to. Maybe I'll try that on Tuesday. When I did my initial "fitness check" 1 mile walk, I did it in 16 min 30 seconds without feeling I was pushing myself. I mean, I was walking as quickly as I could, but I felt like I wanted to run instead of walk at many points but kept myself from doing so because the web site said to time a 1 mile walk.

See you next Friday night. Hey - you guys haven't sold out of tickets yet, have you?

What they had us to at AIDS marathon was figure out our natural "pace" -- I started at the lowest one in 2006, which is 1 minute of running to three minutes of walking for an overall 17 minute mile. (Most people walk a mile in 20ish minutes). I'm now a 15 minute mile with a 2/2 interval. Still not super fast or anything, but it works. :) I got an "Ironman" watch at Target that will beep at whatever intervals you need it to, so you can alternate easily.

You can do this. No question. :)

Thanks. I'll try to remember that. And you too, woman! I know that I've been less than responsive over the past couple years, but I truly am trying to change that. And if you do feel I'm blowing you off, please - just whack me upside the head, okay?
